Published to accompany an exhibition now on view at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, this book documents the first major survey of the work of this influential contemporary artist. Known for expansive grid panoramas and painted installations, Bartlett’s art was aptly described by New York Times critic John Russell as enlarging “our notion of time, memory, and of change, and of painting itself.”  Texts in this beautifully illustrated book include an essay by Klaus Ottmann, AICA-USA member and Curator at Large at the Philips Collection; an interview with the artist by Terrie Sultan, Director of the Parrish Art Museum and AICA-USA member, and an excerpt from Bartlett’s The History of the Universe: A Novel.  The exhibition remains on view at the Pennsylvania Academy through October 13, and travels to the Parrish Art Museum, April 27-July 13, 2014.
