AICA-International—Second Call for Papers / NEW DEADLINE AND REMINDER

45th AICA International Congress, Zürich, Switzerland, 10-12 July 2012—Writing with an Accent

Please note that the call for papers for the 45th AICA International Congress has been extended to 15 April 2012.

Full details of the original call may be found at : http://www.aica-int.org/spip.php?article1272

All that is required at this preliminary stage is a brief summary of 10-15 lines (in English, French or Spanish), short biography and relevant contact details.

The focus of the congress will be on critical writing, rather than art historical research.

Papers may take the form of an examination of someone else’s text on a contemporary art topic (whether in a positive or in a critical light), a presentation of a recent text of your own, or the basis for a live discussion with another writer, artist or curator.

You will be informed whether your proposal for a paper has been selected by 15 April.

You will have until 31 May to submit your text for a short presentation of 10-15 minutes, in English if possible, or then in French or Spanish. Texts that are accepted will be translated into one further AICA language (English, French or Spanish), then made available via the website, in advance and distributed in typescript at the time of the Congress. Papers should only be approx. 800 words in length, to allow adequate time for discussion.

Discussions will be conducted and moderated in English, with the participation of additional interlocutors. Presentations will more be conducted along informal lines, than an academic presentation. Discussions will have the character of an orchestrated chat show or a designed colloquium with visitors. Each day of the three-day Congress will begin with a keynote lecture and discussion, followed by 6-7 short papers and discussion sessions. The day will be rounded off with a programme of visits to contemporary art institutions in the city of Zürich.

For further information about the requirements for submitting proposals for papers by 15 April or details of the programme, please contact:  Eveline Suter (AICA Switzerland: info@aica.ch)

Completed papers should be submitted by 31 May to: Anne-Claude Morice (AICA International office: aica.office@gmail.com)
